RFCB Membership ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Stage 1 – Application Submission

Applicants submit:

·      Completed application form;

·      Certified qualification documents;

·      Curriculum vitae;

·      Proof of identity;

·      Professional memberships and registrations;

·      Supervision information;

·      Insurance information (where applicable);

·      Payment of application fee.

Stage 2 – Administrative Review

The Membership Administrator confirms:

☐ Application complete

☐ Identity verified

☐ Qualifications received

☐ Supporting documents attached

☐ Application fee paid

Stage 3 – Qualification Assessment

The Membership Committee assesses:

·      Qualification level and relevance;

·      NZQF equivalency where qualifications were obtained overseas;

·      Professional experience;

·      Scope of practice;

·      Supervision arrangements;

·      Cultural competence;

·      Ethical suitability.

Additional information may be requested where necessary.

Stage 4 – Verification Checks

The Board may undertake:

·      Qualification verification;

·      Professional reference checks;

·      Membership verification with other professional bodies;

·      Police vetting;

·      Review of complaints or disciplinary history;

·      Review of professional indemnity arrangements.

Stage 5 – Membership Interview (where required)

An interview may be requested where:

·      Qualifications require further clarification;

·      Overseas equivalency assessment is needed;

·      The applicant seeks Clinical or Supervisor status;

·      Previous complaints or disciplinary matters require discussion.

Stage 6 – Decision

Applications may be:

☐ Approved

☐ Approved with conditions

☐ Deferred pending further information

☐ Declined

All decisions are recorded by the Membership Committee.

Stage 7 – Notification and Registration

Successful applicants receive:

·      Membership Certificate;

·      Membership Number;

·      Membership Category;

·      Access to Board resources and professional development opportunities.

Ongoing Membership Requirements

Members must:

·      Comply with the RFCB Code of Ethics;

·      Maintain professional supervision;

·      Complete a minimum of ten (10) hours of Continuing Professional Development annually;

·      Notify the Board of any investigations, complaints, criminal charges, or changes affecting professional practice;

·      Renew membership annually and pay membership fees;

·      Maintain Professional Indemnity Insurance where required by their scope of practice.
